I used to complaint a lot, but now I
have realized that it is a waste of time. Whether we feel happy or peaceful is
not related to our external environment; instead, it is all about we interpret a
situation or what meaning we give to it. When our happiness and peace depend on
external events we lose our power. Our states of peace and happiness are then
dependent on something, someone or the environment we operate in. We can work
hard to get these things but the happiness will be fleeting after we get them.
Soon we need to find another goal and the treadmill will continue.
This
is the problem of humanity. That is why we are suffering because we forget that
we already have everything. All these treasures, joy, love, peace, wisdom we
posses inside. We already have these treasures if we find the time to sit down
and discover them. But you have to look - if you look for these treasures outside
of you, you will never find them. But once you find them inside of you, all external searching
becomes meaningless.
Why do you aspire to achieve something? Why do you
work so hard to earn so much money? Ask yourself and will find that it is
either because of fear or because you are looking for love. You can never
dissolve your fear by getting something. You can never get love by running
after something either. So how can we solve this puzzle then? Sit quietly with
yourself, get in touch with your inner self and you will then find all the
answers.
How to get in touch with your inner self? Set up some time
every day for yourself and do nothing, just sit there quietly with yourself.
Whatever arises, observe it. Whether it is non-stop inner chatting, body
sensations, emotions, sounds, etc.; observe everything without judgement and
without reacting to it; just let everything rise to the surface. If there is
any resistance in you, just observe it and let it go. Day by day you will
observe your inner workings and soon you will strike gold, your true treasure
buried deep inside yourself. At this point peace, joy, happiness and love will
be with you independent of your external environment.
