Masters of Life (Continued)

You know how to be strong in a physical sense; you go to the gym, you do yoga or practice Pilates. Sure, it takes a little time to build stamina, but soon you get stronger and find that you have more energy in all areas of your life.

Perhaps you can think about facing life's challenges similarly. Have you ever found yourself procrastinating on a task, or worse, blocking some people and activities out altogether? A Tao traveler will tell you that all aspects of life, the good as well as the bad, are here to help you. Face everything to the best of your abilities and you will see that your life will thank you for it. It hurts to get exposed to the uncomfortable stuff, but soon you will have the strength to deal with everything.

Perhaps you can think of yourself as a martial arts expert in training. When a thought pops up you just sit there watching it come and go. The same with emotions. You experience them, you are in tune with them, and you watch them flow by. A martial arts expert can take blows from his opponent without blinking; why shouldn't we be able to cope with the stuff that comes from the depth of our being in the same way?

Be willing to move out of your comfort zone. It can be an uphill struggle in the beginning, but the Tao will send many presents your way as you do. When you are in perfect shape you appreciate what you see in the mirror. Similarly, when you face  everything to the best of your abilities you will be surprised how beautiful and friendly the world turns out to be.
