We spiritual path travelers have probably discovered many of these crosses in the road when we stumble on new milestones. A spiritual path is really a mission and while we often steer our journey into a meaningful direction, at least as often we are in fact steered by a higher authority. Discovering our mission is a joint exercise - life has its nudges to let us know what we are born to do.
These searches can be anything: looking for a soul partner, a spiritual community, a meaningful job, a new creative outlet, the drive to merge with God. Once you start this journey, a new life opens up to you. It starts with a vague idea but the right person, the right place, the right phone call, or the right feeling lets you know how to connect the pieces. What a relief when you suddenly know how your life is going to evolve!
It turns out that you always knew what your mission was about, it was just that beforehand the mission statement was imprinted in the subconscious - your soul knew. A spiritual path is about getting the stuff out of the depth of your being into the conscious plane. Life provides you with the meaning and you suddenly realize that the novel of your life was already foretold by your childhood experiences. Let your mission come to you and stand ready to embrace it with open arms. Let yourself be amazed what life has in store for you when you walk your path with curiosity and passion.
