Living is Giving

Leben ist Weitergeben - Living is giving.
(Monika Wiese)

We all become sick at times and we all eventually die. That is a sad fact, and that probably explains why we aspire to keep our bodies in top shape, live in pristine, luxurious and bacteria-free surroundings and worship youth. It probably also explains why we run after sex, name and fame. Some psychologists conjecture that pretty much everything we do - even when we creatively express ourselves, or drown ourselves with alcohol and drugs - we are always just running away from the fear of our eventual demise.

We spiritual folks claim that there is something you can do to overcome these death fears - be completely open to everything life brings you. Life holds all the answers you are seeking. The Power of Now, as Eckhart Tolle eloquently put it, is really the observation that the ego melts in the daily onslaught of impressions, conflicts of interests, and countless human interactions. Embracing the holy now can be experienced as little scratches on the ego's surface. In awe of of the complexity of life, a spiritual traveler throws up her arms and surrenders to the meaningful moment. As you live your life that way for a while it suddenly dawns on you that life is not complex at all; it is quite simple instead. A life spiritually experienced is an ongoing service - humble before God, yet a shining beacon to others.

When you live spiritually you are constantly invited to serve others while leading them at the same time. Spirituality is the observation that we in fact are one. Your sister holds the key for your release, just as you release your brother with your key. Living is giving, and love is an everlasting opportunity to extend your Self. The Law of Oneness maintains that as you sow so you reap. A magical world awaits you once you step outside of the ego realm. Don't get me wrong, the psychologist will tell you that religion and spirituality is the ultimate attempt to escape death. Well, that's their perspective. We invite you to give our hypothesis a try and see for yourself how it feels to step out of the ego plane. Experience for yourself how it feels when peace penetrates every fiber of your being.
