Smell the Roses Without Getting Stuck to the Honey

Positive thinking means being untruthful; it means being dishonest. Positive thinking is just deceiving people. The negative is as much part of life as the positive. They balance each other. They are always together like negative and positive poles of electricity. You can't have electricity with one pole, you will need both. I don't teach you positive thinking, because positive thinking carries the negative in its wake. I teach you transcendence - neither positive nor negative. Be a watcher: witness both. (Osho)

We all perceive life differently - what gets me going may repel you, while your passions may leave me cold as well. So while we can't judge the path of others, we certainly can figure out what works for us and what doesn't; life is a perfect feedback mechanism that way, it will holler loudly when we get off-track, and cheer us on when we make the right choices.

We are giant magnets who attract the meaningful people and occurrances into our lives - you can redirect traffic by discovering who you truly are, as well as by embracing change. You can minimize pain by following the Way - indirectly somehow, happiness will come your way more often than not. What Osho calls transcendence, I would call connecting with the Way instead. Holding Her Hand you have plenty of time to stop and smell the roses, without getting stuck to the honey.

Guided by Her, you step outside of the wheel of life while still enjoying it to the fullest. But if it is success and happiness you are after, the laws of karma will bind you like everyone else. The Power of Positive Thinking is not required to stay connected to the Tao, perception and mindfulness is. You can see Her in the spring as well as in autumn, in birth as much as in death. Hold on to the center and She will be near-by.
