Serenity Amidst Destruction

I wake up, wide awake. It is 2 am, but full moon is still days away. A destructive energy is running through me. This can only mean that Kali is at it once again. Who knows what goes down tonight; maybe another earthquake, maybe the wild-fires on the West Coast continue; maybe another series of terrorist attacks is about to strike. Perhaps different countries, or tribes within countries attack each other yet again.

We may be potent enough to suppress these outburst with collective prayers. We may be spiritual enough to stay serene while this dark energy sweeps the country. For me personally, I have observed that spiritually kosher living has made me in the meantime immune enough not to not be pulled into this vortex of negative energy. Sure, negative programs are running through me as well, such as destructive thoughts or experiencing painful emotions, but the decision maker within still keeps his head over water.

I pray that enough of us are reaching this level of spiritual mindfulness. Collectively we can counter this dark force. Together we could clean up and digest the countless little sins that seek collective expressions in one giant destructive wave. Spiritual traveler of this world, just keep moving. Follow the clues of the Way until you have purified yourself of all harmful programs of the past. There may be a dark night when we have reached critical mass so that we can counterbalance and perhaps altogether stop a destructive field in its tracks. A nursery rhyme from our boys' preschool comes to mind:

Clean up, clean up, everybody everywhere.
Clean up, clean up, everybody do your share!
