This is Your Time

I was browsing in the Google Plus spirituality community today and found a motivational speech that, with the help of some inspirational movie clips, and the rousing speech of a reverend essentially asks us to become out better self. Why do we have those claims, why do we give these speeches and write those books? Aren't we essentially saying that we didn't try our best before? Why do we think that we are more special the day after we make our affirmation? Do we really think that we can boost our willpower by simply deciding to do better?

Don't get me wrong though. Yes, we can become our better self, but the process works differently. It happens by understanding who we are. The miracle takes place when we understand that we are born to do whatever it is that we are facing. It is the moment, and our understanding of it, that makes us great. We are our better SELF because the WAY reminds us every step.

If you have ever watched the movie "Miracle on Ice", there was a scene in it when Kurt Russel convinced the American ice hockey team in the 1980 Winter Olympic Games that they have a shot of winning against the overwhelming Soviet power. This was his speech in the moments before the semi-finals started:

Great moments are born from great opportunity. And that's what you have here tonight, boys. That's what you earned here tonight. One game. If we play them ten times they might win nine. But not this game; not tonight! Tonight, we skate with them. Tonight, we stay with them. And we shut them down because we can. Tonight we are the greatest hockey team in the world. You were born to be hockey players, everyone of you. You were meant to be here tonight. This is your time. Their time is done. It's over. I am sick and tired of hearing about what a great hockey team the Soviets have. Screw them! This is your time, now go out there and take it!

Yup, that is the WAY talking to us every moment. We spiritual travelers may not be any happier than the folks living next door. We may not be more "successful", in their eyes anyway, but we are more connected, and we in ongoing contact with our SELF. The magic of the WAY accomplishes this feat.

This is your time, use it!
