Aging is nothing to be afraid of

Live your life and forget your age.
(Norman Vincent Peale)

The other day I found a gym back in my office. This didn't make any sense given that I always leave it in the car when I am at work so I must have mistakenly picked it up as I left the parking garage. Some would say that is what aging does to you; but then, perhaps it is the work stress instead and I will go back to normal once the current rough patch is behind me. In the end though, it doesn't matter. With every decade that goes by our mental processing power declines, but we substitute it with something else. We become more instinctive in what we do. We think less and just do based on the patterns that we are familiar with.

When we are small children our mental capacities are developing, yet every parent will tell you that small children are quite spiritual. The same with old people. Aging is nothing to be afraid of as long as every thought, feeling and action is in accordance with the WAY. Spirituality protects and guides you as you get older, but without it, you will only helplessly observe how your potency is on the decline. We may be less sharp than in the olden days, but we can become more effective. We are no longer the cunning politician, but can become a wise states(wo)man instead; we are no longer the scheming business(wo)man, but can become an effective leader. Our body may no longer as energetic as in the olden days but our SELF can shine through.

Everyone should be encouraged to connect with their spiritual roots so that aging doesn't become a hindrance, but a natural progression of life. When we travel the WAY, aging is nothing to be afraid of.
