Mother Nature is Beyond Good and Evil

And once the storm is over you won’t remember how you made it through, how you managed to survive. You won’t even be sure, in fact, whether the storm is really over. But one thing is certain, when you come out of the storm you won’t be the same person who walked in. That’s what this storm is all about.
(Haruki Murakami)

Here in New England, on the East Coast of the US, we enjoy sunshine and blue skies most of the time. When it rains though, it pours. Occasionally some of the hurricanes make it up here, and the winter storms coming in from Canada can be really tough as well. Mother Nature occasionally appears heartless, yet if it wasn’t for those massive storms we wouldn’t have the moisture to keep our scenery green and lush. Mother Nature gives and takes; we better get used to it.

Same with our spiritual evolution. Awakening happens in spirals, along an ascending trajectory. Perceived ‘set-backs’ are part of the spiritual dance, just as big storms are part of the New England landscape. When the skies are blue and the sun is shining, enjoy. When the thunder-clouds are rolling in, seek cover and let the storm do its thing. Observe how a perceived crisis can remove the layers of our ego once we open up to the pain. Just as Mother Nature is beyond good and evil, the WAY always guides us HOME. In good times just as much as in bad times.
