Limiting Beliefs Be Gone!

Many—if not all—of us are a little banged up. A few genetic handicaps; some acquired diseases; some traumatic childhood or life experiences; some related struggles of our loved ones. The list is endless. Should this note speak to you, you are certainly in good company. We need to respect the chains of the past, but we do not necessarily take our limitations for granted. A spiritual path is about learning to break free from our past, or at least to find meaning in what our handicap is all about. Just as Reinhold Niebuhr’s serenity prayer reminds us, “GOD grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.”

I am personally not a fan of ‘The Secret’ and all the different manifestation techniques—not because there is anything wrong in aspiring living in abundance, or leading a happy life—but because I distrust our ability to visualize what in fact is good for us. Our ego is bound to interfere in the process. ‘Let the future take care of itself’, is my motto. We decide on the direction that we want to proceed in, but otherwise we use the wisdom of the ‘here and now’ to show us what to do next. That’s how the future is created. One step along the Way at a time. Understanding GOD’s message in the ‘here and now’ is all I concern myself with. Yet, if you carefully observe what life confronts us with every day, you will find that we are constantly invited to readjust and to change. We are encouraged to open up to what is meaningful to us, even though it might come in a different manifestation than we had in mind initially. GOD wants us to live in abundance—SHE just has to communicate to us what truly is worth our while.

We spiritual travelers have plenty of opportunities to work on our limiting beliefs. Life invites us daily to adjust, to reflect, and to dance around some obstacles in order to embrace the abundance that we are born to get. For me personally, GOD has thus far blessed me with good health, but I have limiting beliefs in other areas of my life; an occasional feeling of being pressed for time; a lack of faith that fortune will always be on my side; and so forth. Yet, when life dances with me, I am always shown that the sky is the limit for all of my plans. All I need is to have the guts to claim my inheritance. I need to take on my fears and need to dance with life. I need to have the flexibility to listen to all of life’s messengers. I also need to have the will-power to overcome my self-imposed limitations.

My recipe for success is this: I rely on other people to make me aware of my limiting beliefs. Indeed, once I open up to their ideas, I always find the path to do better. It is hard work to override existing biases and behavioral patterns, but it can be done. Every spiritual traveler will be encouraged to break free from the chains of the past, and eventually, has to follow the journey into freedom. There is simply no alternative! Standing still or going backwards on a spiritual path simply hurts too much.

Limiting beliefs, be gone!
