On the Futility of Struggle

Against the wind,
I'm still running against the wind.
I'm older now but still running against the wind.
(Bob Seger, Against the Wind)

You may have struggled with health, poverty and finding the love of your life for years, and then you hear a click and it all comes together overnight. Yoshua famously stated, ‘by their fruits you shall recognize them, and they will know themselves’. Struggle may get you to the point of Awakening, but eventually the results in the here and now have to speak for themselves.

Struggle is of the past; in the here and now GOD is present, and struggle is a complete waste of our time and resources. The Bhagavad Gita famously states that ‘the self is the best friend of the SELF, and the biggest foe’. It sometimes takes us a while to Awaken to the games we play with ourselves, but in the here and now serenity and insight is ours to capture. The SELF is always nearby.

I love Bob Seger ‘Against the Wind’ Song because of its melody and its relevance for my journey as an Old Soul, but please don’t make struggle a paradigm for the presence. Struggle is of the ego—GOD wants us nothing to do with it. We are GOD’s Children, so we must have access to peace of mind in the here and now. If you still feel the wind blasting into your face, adjust the sails.
