Spiritual Amateur

The word ‘professional’ has a positive association, unless of course we refer to the business of sex or contract killing. It is great to interact with people who are experts in their fields. The word ‘amateur’ has a negative meaning, though the root of the word is actually ‘love for the subject’. Doodling then, could be somewhere in-between. It has both creativity and inspiration associated with it, but also implies wasting time.

The spiritual ascension journey is a full contact sport. It requires full commitment, yet, we cannot practice it professionally. Selling and spiritual ascension are oceans apart. As it turns out then, many of us are just doodling around. We follow the calling and the whims of our hearts, but when the stuff really hits the fan we shy away because the energy doesn’t feel right. The truth has to lie somewhere in between.

Commitment is the Way. Surround yourself with people and missions you stand up for no matter what. When you have to provide for your living with your spiritual services, or when your loved ones depend on you, that’s when you go the extra mile, whatever the cost may be. Spirit knows your commitments well and carefully prepares the hoops for you to jump through to make this journey worth your while.

Commitment to the people I hang out with, or the projects I engage with like my books, my notes or working with people, that’s what keeps me going on my spiritual ascension journey. While I hope to be as professional as can be in my interactions, I would never ‘sell’ anything for the sake of doing business. I shy away from having an implicit agenda as best as I can. I don’t claim to be on an enlightenment path either, just forging a path in search of an authentic ‘me’. I am a spiritual amateur and am proud of it.
