Facing the Now Even if it Hurts

Sometimes people don’t want to hear the truth because they don’t want their illusions destroyed.
(Friedrich Nietzsche)

Have you ever observed how you trick yourself?  I have observed tricking myself many times. We say to ourselves that we accept the “now” but the truth is that we don’t want to accept the “now” at all. We only pretend that we are present with the now but our true agenda is to get rid of the feelings, or experiences of what is facing us at this moment.

I have also seen many people posting questions and comments in study groups saying that they are present with their sufferings, yet how come the sufferings still lingers? And how come that years later the same issues keep resurfacing!

Please do observe how you talk to yourself and others.  When you said, “I am present, I am here now, but how come I am still suffering?”  What’s your true intention?  Your true intention is to get rid of this feeling and experience, isn’t?

True presence with ourselves means we know what’s going on within. We recognize and accept these not so beautiful, not so glamorous moments and are willing to be there for them. May we all have this compassion and patience toward ourselves! May we merge with the now even if it hurts!
