Mind the Process

If you know you are not the mind, then what difference does it make if it’s busy or quiet. You are not your mind.

We hear it often, ‘be still and know that I Am God’, ‘be mindful’, ‘be here and now’. These are symptoms of a satori moment but they are not guiding posts to bring you Home. You need a Process for this journey. You need the insight and determination to stay connected to the Way, every step of it, no matter whether your mind cries murder or your heart flutters. The mind is great for sketching a vision twenty years hence but it is awful guide on a day to day basis. The heart is great for finding and giving love but it too caves when the pain body of the past gets triggered. What is the Process you might ask? Well, these are the Signs of the Way: the hand of the brother who lifts you up when you least expect it. The song on the radio that tells you to stay the course just as you are considering a U-turn. The sister who always loves you no matter how much porcelain lies broken on the floor. It is not hard to recognize God’s Voice but you have to respect the Process in order to have constant access.


The Zen saying goes, leave your front and back doors open. Let the thoughts come and go, just don’t serve them tea. The corollary of this statement is that our heart will know, that our feelings can always spot God’s Voice nearby. Well, I know some enlightened Souls who always have this Divine heart connection if you give them a few hours or days to figure it out, but it ain’t me. As a mind-driven person I need something else to hang onto. God is kind and has surrounded me with a Process instead, allowing me to perceive God’s Voice no matter what the situation and what the circumstances. My loved ones, friends, numbers, the star constellation, songs on the radio, nature’s messengers, you name it. God always knows where to find me. She tells me what thoughts and feelings I want to serve tea in the end. The Process is mysterious and always will be no matter how many books I write trying to describe It. Yet, your Soul longings should be pretty clear by now. Stick to those until you get a better foothold along the Way. Never mind what life throws at you, the Process will bring you Home.
