Never mind the story of the ‘I’

The thoughts are spontaneous, superficial or analytical. They operate in intellect. The existence of thoughts, their clear conceptions and their operations become evident to the individual. The individuality of the person is operative as the perceiver of the existence of thoughts and of their sequence. This individuality is the ego, or as people say 'I'.

Why to fight the body? Our body is merely an avatar allowing us to function, experience Creation and to express ourselves. Our body has needs, such as sleep, eating, or sex, and they all come natural to us. Problems only arise when the psychological ‘I’ gets involved.

There is nothing wrong with our heart either. Feelings allow us to experience and express being part of Creation. The heart is the gateway to love and God. We should be in awe of our heart and exposing ourselves as best to life as we can rather than trying to protect it.

Similarly, why to fight the mind? Isn’t it nice that we can analyze the past and get better at what we do in the present? Isn’t it amazing that we can ponder the future and consider hypothetical realities?

The problem arises when the mind tells stories about our body, or tells the heart how it should feel. Problems arise when the buried pain of a broken heart undermines our body, or if the mind starts telling funny stories based on our unresolved pain body.

The psychological ‘I’ catapults us away from the here and now, but we can become sensitive to these pathologies and misleading stories. We can notice the fear or craving that pops up, when our body becomes restless, or when we want to own someone.

If you want to be free, be mindful of what is. Be one with your body, your heart and life itself and realize that the mind is just an instrument at our disposal. It doesn’t have to rule us at all. Step out of the psychological ‘I’ and be finally free!
