Enlightenment—A Backward Movement

I joined Adyashanti’s Toronto meeting this weekend.  In one of his talks he mentioned a backward spiritual movement, which I couldn’t agree more with and love to share it. He mentioned that we all tend to move toward whichever we are inspired with or called for and it seems to be an endless journey, or forever journey for most of the people. And then he said, for spirituality, instead of moving forward, we move backward.  For example, if you are inspired to get enlightenment.  Instead of moving forward and making endless effort to be enlightened, moving backward and realize that you are already enlightened.  It is enlightenment that wants to express itself through you.  All your efforts, on the contrary, undermine this fact and put you into a state that you are not.

I couldn’t agree with him more.  The trick is to recognize that you are not you.  You are the consciousness that wants to express herself through you and experience this life through you. Do you get it?  Hope you do!
