Let go of all chains

Good and bad, optimistic and pessimistic;

our friends prefer us to be ‘good’,

our job effectiveness benefits from optimism,

but spiritual advancement requires waking up.

Break-throughs require Oscar-worthy performances:

the flirt, the skirt-chaser and the jealous lover,

the curious cat, or the fame seeking opportunist,

the generous helper or the penny pincher.

Every face and act helps us to track down our ego;

every craving and fear alerts us to our mind’s workings.

Accept to be human, but be mindful,

and let go of all the chains you still carry around.
