Awareness is ever there. It need not be realized. Open the shutter of the mind, and it will be flooded with light.
Nisargadatta Maharaj
Folks who claim, ‘you are That’, like Nisargadatta Maharaj in the quote above are right, but they may for some be as helpful as the guy who tells the agonizing sun flower farmer who complains about seven day of rain that he need not worry, the sun is always shining about the storm clouds.
The great unwind is the realization that each and everyone of us carry lifetimes of karma, conditioning and wrong beliefs that require discovering, minding and unwinding. It may take years of work for a cause we believe in, or taking care of other souls that depend on us, to get all that stuff to the surface and out of our system.
There comes a time though when all the hard is done, when the wounds of our lost love are no longer quite as deep, and if the urge of the mission we once had enthusiastically signed up for no longer feels quite as urgent. This is the time when freedom is at hand; that’s the time when the blue sky of Awareness is viable despite the drifting clouds.
We carry pain bodies with us. We carry convoluted stories about ourselves and our relationship with others with us. We carry belief systems that are only partly true. We carry regrets and guilt that need to be washed away, and we have cravings and fears that we don’t even acknowledge to ourselves. In the great unwind all this will be revealed.
Awareness is always there. That’s the Truth. Everyone can see glimpses from time to time, spiritual or not. To make these perennial Truths relevant to everyone as a spiritual teacher though, we also need to help them to unwind the entanglement and suffering of the past. Open up to the great unwind and life will set you free!
