CEO of the Now

You are just trying to quiet your mind.
You're not trying to get enlightened.
You are not trying to awaken.
You are not trying to become liberated.
You already are.
Robert Adams

Consciousness is the Beyond experiencing Itself. Does it matter whether the guy next door knows this fact? All that matters is that he enjoys the experience, and by identifying with the experience he signs up for the pain that comes with the pleasure. Still, we have no business telling the multi-million dollar CEO he is doing something wrong, nor the player who just bets his house on the number 16 in roulette, or the lover who conquers his beloved in the bedroom. Everything that makes someone’s heart pump feeds into AllThatIs. Everything that makes us live is the opposite of evil (spells backwards live).

We spiritual folks or on a different quest than most others. We are aware of Consciousness and when not, we are trying to be aware of the fact that we are unconscious and try to awake from our slumber. You tell me, are we really happier? Sure, there are the days of ecstasy when we feel that we are That, but there are also the grey days when we stare into space wishing this apathy and pain to pass. I am not sure we are any happier than the guy next door, but probably a bit more serene. Walking a spiritual path has its perks, good health, fulfillment and peace of mind are some of them.

So how to reach Consciousness when you are searching for it? Well, don’t! Just be one with the moment and see what happens. Robert Adam’s suggestion to just quit thinking is a bit naïve. Thought processes are subconscious; we have to endure them just as we have to face life’s up and downs. Still, the moment at hand is something to zoom into; hanging out with that loved one who makes our heart jump, or the mission that we love diving into. We are the CEO of the now getting rewarded with bliss rather than money. We are That!
