The conscious mind is like a gigantic camera with the ego directing the view and the focus. Left alone, various portions of the identity rise and form the ego, de-group and reform, all the while maintaining a marvelous spontaneity and yet a sense of oneness.
Seth, The Nature of Personal Reality
At work, I learnt how to let go of my own visor as I also opened up to what my friends and adversaries were seeing. My vision was important all right, but my view was only brilliant as a part of a mosaic that described the bigger picture. It took years of pain to open me up the the creative process that was beyond me but always at my disposal.
Ego is the part of the conscious mind that believes in the ‘me, myself and I,’ and may even have a vested interest in keeping this worldview intact. It doesn’t matter, grandeur beats grandiosity hands down. Experience the world through the eyes of a child, the heart of a lover and the understanding of an artist and the ego is swept away.
