My wife works harder than anyone I have ever seen, but then she gets upset if she doesn’t get the appreciation at work that she feels she deserves. My response to her is always the same, ‘why do you care so much about the opinion of a place that clearly doesn’t love you back?’
The overweight wants satisfaction from his food that it is unable to deliver, so he has to eat again to feel some temporary satisfaction. The womanizer wants to conquer again, and has little appreciation for the love that surrounds him. The movie star falls in love with fame, not the actual movie-goer who adores her.
Falling in love with what is, is the answer, not what we want life to deliver. Greed, thirst for fame and power, lust, codependent love relationships, all of these afflictions are an inability to mind our own psychological processes. We are all in the same boat, yet there is a simple solution, be mindful both within and without.
Fall in love with what is.
