Matador, Torrero Munera, is quoted as saying of this moment: “ ... suddenly, I looked at the bull. He had this innocence that all animals have in their eyes, and he looked at me with this pleading. It was like a cry for justice, deep down inside of me. I describe it as being like a prayer - because if one confesses, it is hoped, that one is forgiven. I felt like the worst shit on earth.”
It was said that when visitors to the Ramana Maharshi ashram wanted their sins absolved he steered the conversation away from the past to the here and now. Everything is forgiven and forgotten, just don’t do again whatever you think you did then. Life is here to show us the absurdity of the ‘me energy’ and helps us break free from it. I found the story of the matador touching. How many cows and calves have given their lives to nourish us. Who knows, maybe this bull sacrificed his life to help the matador break free from his gruesome profession for good.
