Beyond good and evil

Unencumbered by any concept of sin, the Master doesn’t see evil as a force to resist, but simply as an opaqueness, a state of self-absorption which is in disharmony with the universal process, so that, as with a dirty window, the light can’t shine through.

Stephen Mitchell, Tao Te Ching, Foreword

The ‘Tao Te Ching’—a scientific or artistic view of spirituality— is not in conflict with more religious works such as ‘A Course in Miracles’. While the yin and yang symbol contains a speck of evil in goodness, just as there always will be a speck of goodness in every evil, which seems in contrast to the spotless divine alternative ‘A Course in Miracles’ offers, yet, the Master realizes the speck, understands it, and by doing so, transcends to the next level of consciousness beyond good and evil.

The difference between the scientific and the religious perspective is that divine energies can always only be claimed in the here and now. One divine vision at a time. This perspective is perfectly expressed in the ascending yin and yang symbols. (Wo)men can always only transcend to the next level of spiritual insight as long we are trapped in human form. The union with the highest will be elusive unless granted by Grace.
