Breaking free from lifelong conditioning and habits

In samsara's endless cycle, we roam,

Through birth and death, with pain and joy entwined.

A quest for freedom, yet still we're bound,

To karmic ties that keep us firmly tied.

We search for answers in the world of form,

But true liberation lies within,

For when the ego's grip is overcome,

The path to nirvana will begin.

With each rebirth, new lessons we'll acquire,

And slowly, slowly, we'll transcend the self.

Till finally, we'll reach the other shore,

And be at peace, in emptiness and wealth.

So let us strive, with each and every breath,

To break the chains of samsara's death.

The question is, are we able to look through the false hopes and irrational fears of what we used to call our self? Even if we do, the question also remains if we have the energy to break free from the dictate of lifelong conditioning and habitual behaviors? The poems describes the both arduous and exciting breaking free process well. With Awakening we move from receiving occasional glimpses of the Light to the familiar bathing in the Light with the occasional moments of self illusion and indulgence. Let’s thank the past for getting us to this point, and let’s continue with the vigilance to make this transition to serenity and love complete.
