Trust life and keep going

Osho told a story of a famous court musician who was unrivaled at his time, and similar to the clash of Mozart and Salieri, there was an aspiring musician at his time who worked day and night to outshine him. With little success, the aspiring musician went to the same teacher of the court musician who told him that this rivalry held him back. True genius required love of music and nothing else.

One day the teacher fell sick and the student devoted his music just to him to help him to recover. This was the turning point in his career. Suddenly the aim of his music was true beauty and devotion and no longer about a rivalry of techniques. His teacher told him that he was now ready to face the court musician in a competition but his student was no longer interested. Writing music was all that mattered.

I feel this story sums up the quest for spiritual realization quite well. When we seek we want to be healed, want to be serene, want to be special. We may even run away from some aspects of our being that we are too scared to look at. Yet, with realization we fall in a magical trance just by seeing nature or our beloved’s smile. A quest of any sort is furthest from our mind as we are full of bliss in the here and now.

I truly believe that everyone is getting what they are looking for in the end. Keep knocking and the door will open eventually. In Osho’s story it was the illness of the student’s beloved master that brought the turnaround. Similarly, life has the curve ball that brings your break-through already mapped out. We become extraordinary when we stop striving for it and when God tells us that we are. Trust life and keep going!
