Mind the spiritual mind

Defining six natures of love like the Greek did and then reflecting on it ain’t love, other than the love for learning. This is the mind being in love with itself. Studying hard in order to get “better” may be a good first step in the right direction, but true spirituality is having unconditional love flow through us. We are vining at a different frequency when the mind is still.

Contemplating how we can choose love over ego is also the mind at work, same when we are mindful of our thoughts and feeling, is also a good step in the spiritual direction, but it isn’t the state of no self. Thinking about thinking involves the mind and calling it awareness is fooling ourselves. In the state of no self there aren’t any, and feelings are uniformly serene and blissful.

Mindfulness and meditation are good tools to embark on a spiritual quest. There are all we can do really, but I am surprised that no teacher ever mentions that their tools appeal to the conditioned mind. It may be a “better” conditioning than the mind that hunts wealth, fame and romance, but it is a conditioning nevertheless. Maybe that’s why some seek and never find.

Add minding the spiritual mind to the tool box of meditation and mindfulness and see where it gets you. At the end of the day we are energy workers. Follow the energy that wows the mind into stillness. Spirituality 1.0 is when the mind reflects on how to be spiritual. Spirituality 2.0 is letting the higher energies flow through us while getting the mind out of the Way.
