Life has its ups and downs. Pleasure and pain interchange with the more mundane as well as the treasured spiritual moments. Life keeps confronting us with decisions and we have to sweat them out. Most turn out to be harmless though. I increasingly view life just like the writer of a soap opera. The protagonist wiggles himself through obstacle after obstacle, and at the beginning of the new episode everything is back to a fresh start.
On my trip to LA the phone beeped early in the morning. The flight was delayed. Suddenly I had the choice between a 30-minute layover in Austin on an already delayed flight or rushing to the airport and making it through security in 40 minutes in heavy traffic to an earlier flight. There was a sparkle in the driver’s eyes, “you are in a hurry?”, he asked and did a great job beating the traffic. The amazing thing, once I changed flights, traffic lifted.
I arrived at the early connecting flight via Philadelphia just fine, and a look at the original flight outcome made me laugh. As expected, the flight to Austin was delayed even further, but I would have made it anyhow as the following flight was delayed as well. Anyhow, the switch gave me peace of mind instead. It wasn’t really my decision. The eager driver gave me the confidence that we would beat traffic. Spot the Oneness!
