God who is faithful allows his friends to fall frequently into weakness only in order to remove from them any prop on which they might lean. It is precisely these props which our Lord wishes to take from them so that He alone will be their help and support.

Michael Singer, the author of “The Untethered Soul” spoke at a prison to inmates and introduced a thought experiment to show them the degrees of freedom they possess, “Imagine an attractive naked woman walking in right now. Do you have the willpower not to look at her?” Every man in the room admitted they wouldn’t. “Imagine now I gave you a million dollars and a full pardon if you didn’t look, would you resist the temptation then.” Now everyone said they could.
That’s what thought experiments do, they appeal to our intellect. I guess Michael’s point was to to emphasize that it is all about setting the right incentives. What I have observed though, there are two kinds of energies, the ones that remain in the lower chakras where the instincts prevail, and the ones that reach the higher chakras where we actually have a choice. Once we approach the crown chakra choices disappear once again. This time the higher energies prevail exclusively.
Life is about setting us free from the unconscious and deliver us to the unknown. Somewhere in-between the two we feel we have a choice. Do not beat yourself up over missed opportunities. They have been called into your life to set you free when the time comes. Can we actively promote the opening of the higher energy centers? Sure, that’s what the spiritual quest is all about. From the unconscious to the unknown. Enjoy the ride down the river of life until you merge with the ocean of Oneness.
