What are sins? Why, for example, does a man drink too much? Because he hates the idea of being bound—bound by the incapacity to drink as much as he wishes. He is striving after liberty in every sin he commits. This striving after liberty is the first instinctive action of God in a man’s mind.
Sri Ramana Maharshi
What is a sin? Its deviating from the web of Oneness while running after an illusion. It could be drinking too much, working too hard or too little, falling in love with someone who is not compatible, or not responding to the wooing of a pure heart. A sin is an offense to the harmony of Oneness for we ourselves shall suffer if we succumb to the illusion.
Life is a serious of little and big cuts that are self-imposed by the illusion of not recognizing life as is. Most of us, however, reach the point when we start seeking true freedom, that is, instead of demanding having the ability to make a choice we awake to choice-less awareness in alignment with the web of Oneness. Every step you took in the past was perfectly designed to bring you Home; now enjoy being Home!
