Without desire then there is room for real passion. (…) there is more energy because desire wastes tremendous energy because of its contradictory nature. (David Bohm in J. Krishnamurti and David Bohm conversations)
Having a desire implies that the core of our imaginary self has been struck. This entity tells us that we will be better off than we are here and now when our desire gets satisfied. Likewise, every aversion tells us that we will be better off when this awful moment has passed.
We have to accept our desires just as we have to accept this imaginary entity that we, society and our ancestors once created. Yet, the moment a desire or an aversion pops up we have a gateway to the self: we are the desire and the aversion. Watch them rise and fall and watch the self go.
We may call passion the ability to experience life as is. Unlike desire and aversion, we do not focus our energies on the future moment but burn our self involvement as we interact with life. How to circumvent the imaginary self identification? With the help of self inquiry and self expression!
