Aversion, just like desire, deserves to be curbed.
Ramana Maharshi
Fact of life:
We do what feels good and turn away from what doesn’t.
Stoicism
We can force ourselves to do what doesn’t feel good and stay away from what does, but only by creating and inner bully who overrides our feelings and we feel good about the moral superiority of this bully instead.
Religion
We can force ourselves to do what doesn’t feel good and stay away from what does, but only by believing in Big Daddy in the sky who ultimately will reward us for our strife.
Ethics
We can force ourselves to do what doesn’t feel good and stay away from what does, but only by submitting to what society decides to be right and our inner voice tells us.
Non-duality
We understand that the conditioned mind that tells us what is right and wrong is an artificially created thought and manage to let go of it. That’s when Oneness prevails, and “right” action becomes a no-brainer.
So how to get to the non-duality state? Just observe! Be mindful of desire, be mindful of aversion. Understand the role of stoicism, region, our society and our thought system. Insight, surrender and letting go in unison set us free!
