A friend shared a story where she committed to two places at the same time, and being a woman of her word, tried the impossible to accommodate both parties. After three days of commuting back and forth and with very little sleep she was running out of energy. She said that she walked next to the organizer of the group that required her attendance agonizing over her dilemma and suddenly she turned to her and said out of the blue, “I am sorry, but I have to leave and help a student who needs me.” “Sure,” the seminar organizer responded as if it was the most normal thing in the world. My friend said this was just pure energy at work at that moment. She had nothing to do with it, but her prior agony over the decision set her up for that cathartic resolve.
Life is pure energy in motion. When we meet people, we either attract each others’ energies or we repel each other. When we read energy (feeling, sensing, seeing, knowing) we take the person-specific conditioning out of play. God acts in life as is, and how much fun it is to ride these energies without any self identification and involvement. We can become energy meisters. I really thought my friend’s story was quite instructive. If anything, it was her high ethical standards that created the turmoil. A natural response would have been to tell the retreat organizer that her plans had changed and that she unfortunately has to leave prematurely. Surprisingly, that resolution of her inner conflicts shook her so much to the core that she had an Awakening experience lasting two days.
The Way of the Meister is to be in tune with life’s energies—the good, the bad, and the ugly—and to let life as is call the shots. We just show up for the ride and take all perception of duality out of it. Life as is—in a weird way—is fine as it is.
