If the soul is left in darkness, sins will be committed. The guilty one is not he who commits the sin, but the one who causes the darkness.
Victor Hugo, Les Miserables
We burry the trash of our excessive lifestyle in landfills and plant some trees on top and nature does make a comeback, but at what cost. We all recycle the plastic and forever chemicals—plants, animals, humans. Plastic has entered our blood, bones and brain. New solutions are needed and fast.
Karmic linkages are not any different. Yes, humanity has come far but at what cost. We literally carry the sins of prior generations in our blood, just like their amazing achievements. If you want to break free from the endless chains of good and evil, you have to face, understand and let go of the mistakes of prior generations; otherwise, they will repeat themselves.
I participate in a Family Energy Workshop Suzanne Yang and Suzhen Liu are leading and when the turn came to connect with our mother’s side, her half brother came to my mind. I didn’t know anything about him, so I asked. My grandfather died in the war and had a son from a prior marriage who lived with his wife who was expecting at the time together with my grandma and mother in a little apartment in war-torn Berlin. One day it all became too much for my grandma, and she just put the stuff of her stepson and his wife outside and left them fending for themselves. My mother once met her half brother in a coffee shop by coincidence and recognized his tattoo. He gave her his phone number, but she never followed up as she was afraid that she would alienate her mother.
We carry these wounds inside and we have to face them, understand them and let go of them otherwise history will repeat itself. I spotted that inability to speak up and doing something constructive about a lingering problem in myself whenever other people’s feelings get hurt. My grandmother did what she did, but my mother could have taken the initiative to re-establish and heal existing family bonds. Because of this session I discovered the need to speak up more when healing opportunities present themselves even if it is uncomfortable to confront the subject. Now is at good a time as any for new beginnings.
