Desire is thought producing feelings.
David Bohm
I could say that I am financially secure, that I have a harmonious family life, loving friends, that I live in a beautiful part of the country, have an appealing physique and that I have found my avocation! Likewise, I could observe that I feel financially something is amiss on days when the market is crashing, that my sex life could be better, that life would be better if my son got into the college he aspires, that the environment is polluted no matter where we live, that I am getting older, and that my professional work could be way more effective!
So, which is it? Are we condemned to experience lifetimes of ups and downs based on the karmic actions of the past? Do we fool ourselves by trying to look on the bright side of things even though the stark realities of life to the contrary are staring in our face? Folks who seek happiness in the outside world will cycle between the good, the bad, and the ugly forever. The spiritual answer on the other hand is easy. Within, love, energy and silence prevail if we open up to the higher vibration, and the outer world will adjust accordingly.
How to get there? Well, isn’t that what spiritual living is all about? The higher energies always prevail; what keeps us from them is the inner void trying to convince us that we would be better off somewhere else. When David Bohm concluded that desire is thought producing feelings, all we have to do is to become aware of the mental tricks causing our own misery. All it takes is a pivot in the present moment, a realization that the appealing—or scary—train of thought leads from now here into nowhere. Find the hack to claim abundance!
