On spiritual living

A number of my friends are pretty advanced spiritually. Maybe I know of one person indirectly who could fall into the “enlightenment” category, but to be honest, I think a fundamental problem of our community is that mind-made classification in the first place.

One of my more advanced friends put his state of spiritual being in the following way. He said he perceives body, mind and the world as is, but in the background there is always that presence he is connected with. Occasionally he may be out of it, but he again reconnects pretty soon.

Now is that spiritual awareness—that mindfulness—the holy grail or is it still part of the illusion? Ramana Maharshi once said the paucity of thoughts is a measure of spiritual advancement, but I would also add the flow of life. The path lights up in front of us when we reach the higher vibration state.

I personally believe that every classification of wo(man) is flawed. We are humanity. Everyone has good days and bad ones, but some of us do better and some do worse. Spiritual living is an upgrade of our vibration, a rediscovery of love and a harmonic interaction with our environment.

One friend remarked that butterflies tend to land on her. That’s perhaps as “enlightened” as it gets.
