Awareness of the problem goes a long way toward its resolution

The moment we are aware that we are unaware we are aware.

J. Krishnamurti

Awareness of the fact that we are unaware is not a panacea. We may pass by the liquor store and realize that we once again want to drink our loneliness and restlessness away on a Friday afternoon. We are still grumpy if we pass, but at least the seed of choice-less awareness has been sown.

They say, in vino veritas, and true enough, it’s better to get some of the stuff we are unwilling to admit to ourselves on a dark full moon night of the soul, but it is even better to be willing to sit with the pain body that wants to be heard and accepted in full consciousness.

Maybe we struggle a while longer with that energy link, maybe the struggle resolves. Everything happens exactly as it is meant to be to set us free from the conditioning of the past. As Nisargadatta Maharaj put it, the fruit falls when it is ripe. Awareness that we are unaware is half of the journey.
