I am shines through

We may say consciousness is you being your self. That applies to everyone. We may also say Consciousness is being S (ilence) E (nergy) L (ove) F (low). That also applies to everyone, but few know about it because they are caught up in being this or that, so they are too busy to realize That.

There is something wonderful about awakening. It’s the state where glimpses of S (ilence) E (nergy) L (ove) F (low) are recognized, appreciated and lived. We still get caught up in this or that but there is always an extra dimension in the background. We are always connected to That.

There are four states of consciousness, the mundane that when we are driven by the subconscious, the aware state when we are “That”. There are also the states when we are aware that we are unaware, and thus become aware, and the state when we only think we are aware but are not.

The mundane state is easy to describe and is actually pretty harmless. I get up at 3 am, put some toast into the toaster oven. I push the button on the coffee machine and while it is being prepared put almond butter and marmalade on my bread. It’s nearly instinctive. I don’t think.

The aware state is what spiritual living is all about. It’s our natural state. There are no thoughts, no agenda, no fear, only S (ilence) E (nergy) L (ove) F (low). This state is creative and its non-addictive. We slip out of it eventually. A friend suggested to just say thank you as it passes. That’s a good idea.

The state when we are aware of being unaware is where we have to pause and see if we can do something about it. I feel fear, jealousy, frustration, greed and take notice. Be open to the feeling, the thought and emotion. Serve it tea and listen but don’t invite it to stay overnight and let go.

The last state of being aware that we are aware is experienced towards the end of experiencing the here and now. Say we experience a magnificent sunset and our mind is wowed into silence and awe. Then comes the moment when we say, “let me take a picture.” It’s not the real thing but it’s ok!

With awakening “I Am” shines through in all areas of our lives and all states of consciousness. Perhaps not when we prepare a toast at 3 am in the morning but importantly when we start realizing that the self is in the Way, when we are aware that we are unaware and that way becoming aware.
