Be still and watch the conditioning fade

The fruit falls when it is ripe.

Nisargadatta Maharaj

A thought is us. A feeling and memory is us. Our body is us. When we figure, this thought and feeling is from the matrix of human consciousness, and not really us, we may not be wrong from a higher plane of consciousness, but we invite the empire to strike back. “I show you that you are you body” it says and follows it up with a toothache. “You are not your thought” and your favorite fantasy gets played through one more time.

Mindfulness is a technique just as meditation is. That is, if we sit down for 20 minutes to enjoy a still mind, sometimes it works and sometimes the inner noise level only goes up because of the boredom and restlessness we experience. Yet, inner stillness is ours. It’s our birthright. We have to let it come to us rather that to go out and claim it. That’s the problem with all methods. When you have an agenda to get you don’t have it!

Let us see clearly what is. Without judgement. Without desire to change what is. Let us look at the emerging thought and see where it comes from. Let us be one with the desire or aversion that arises from our body and let it be. It’s also mindfulness but it is not a method. Is is as it is! Suddenly the thought loses all power over us. Suddenly the feeling transforms into love. We ask what’s different from before, but the outgrown falls simply off.

See the moment and our involvement clearly as is and the fruit falls.
