Keep searching for God

The 19th century sage Sri Ramakrishna used to say that we are like children playing with our toys and Maa is happy working in the kitchen, but the moment we put down our toys and start crying, She comes running. However, then he added, “who is crying for God these days?”

Being here now happens often—we slip into selfless being effortlessly when Grace dawns on us. The problem only comes when consciously we try to be That. There is an entity in the way. Imagine someone asks you for a number that is the same multiplied with itself and that isn’t zero. Can you guess?

One we know, but -1 isn’t easy to come by. When you have guessed it, knowing 1 as well as -1 is a no-brainer. Same with the ego. We still know what this state is about. It’s simply not relevant when we are in the here and now. So how can we get there? Keep striving. The answer appears.
