Many have read Eckhart Tolle’s awakening story when he felt like falling into a void following a deep depression and awoke to a new world the next morning. Many of us have experienced a similar transformative episode from one day to the next. How come then that most spiritual disciplines appeal to the conscious grasp of no-self, recommend practice of meditation or yoga, aim to love more, advise to be more compassionate, ethical, passionate, and so forth?
Transformation is subconscious in nature. There is nothing wrong with conscious spiritual work and it most likely sets subconscious changes in motion. It is in periods like this (super full moon October 2024) when many of us can feel the transformative phase in the air. For many the hard work of the past pays off, but the adjustment is an energy event that opens us up to new frequencies that were out of our reach beforehand; a new depth of understanding also emerges but may not drive the upgrade.
