Life unfolds—silence is

 J. Krishnamurti discovered the root cause of our struggles and suffering: There is an impostor posing as self created by thought that views life from its vantage point rather than seeing life as is—a web of interconnectedness.

The drawback of his teaching is that the fish cannot describe water as it is, being submerged in it. Likewise, thought cannot penetrate that imaginary center because it is thought. Ramana Maharshi advised us to keep inquiring into the nature of “I.” When the fish learns to jump in and out of the water, even fish can experience water’s presence from a different vantage point.

I discovered a simple mode of spiritual living to leave this all this metaphysical self inquiry behind. Have you noticed that life has a habit of taking care of itself? Ramana Maharshi once described this feat with the image of a train traveler who would be pretty foolish to keep carrying his luggage once seated in the train. Just put the luggage down and let the train carry the burden as you put your feet up. Life unfolds—silence is.
