The Tao of Remembering Names
Remembering names and faces don't come easily, but I do what I can to learn them given that I aspire to be a connector. Actually, my fear of getting caught in unpleasant situations when I can't recall someone who I have been already introduced to is steadily receding. I have finally figured that unexpected help is often on the way, or that even if you do mess up, the disappointment on the other side is rarely the way you expect. More than that, I love how the Tao is helping me with name bridges that are fun to study. For example, I overheard two colleagues talking to each other, and one very friendly colleague who I have chatted with for a while turned out to be Martin. Funny, I thought to myself, today is my sister's birthday. Her name is Martina, but only because my mother was convinced she would be a Martin instead, and just flexibly added an a when she was in for a surprise. I don't think I will forget his name ever again.
