The Miracle of Love

We all want to be loved. I have discovered for myself what all spiritual writers talk about, the ability and joy of loving unconditionally. I have found this love in my work, I rediscovered this love with my family, but most incredibly, I discovered my ability to love the people who the Tao sends my way in all daily interactions. If you see a divine connection in everything that comes your way, love is simply natural. What they say is true, love gives you wings to fly, it is simply magic.

You probably think to be loved is wonderful, but I have discovered that loving others is even more wonderful! I have found this magic 8 years ago by accident. I used to be a very shy person and believed that no-one loves me. I seldom took the initiative to show my love for anyone or anything. Even if there were people who acted friendly, I still would keep my distance. Certainly, I always wanted people to love me. But now I can see that my behavior actually shielded me from people; it subconsciously signaled to others to keep a instance.

Isn't that ironic? You think that you welcome love but what you are actually doing is to reject love! Everything is related to our belief system. Everything that happens to you is directly related to what you think you are. If you believe that you are not lovable, if you believe deep down inside that people can't be trusted, what you will do is to look for evidence to support your belief and create your own reality that way.

Around the time when I believed that I was not loved, I was looking carefully for all the evidence that supported my irrational belief system, even though the truth was far away from that. Of course many people who were in my life loved me deeply but I was blind to that. Isn't that amazing? Had you been watching this movie, you probably would have gotten impatient and and would have started yelling at me, 'Hey, what are you doing? Are you to blind to see that your spiritual brothers and sisters love you? They love you to death and you can't see it.'

A very big reason that prevents us from loving is fear. Deep down inside, many of us are too afraid of being rejected. We are too scared to take the initiative to love because we are afraid that we will get hurt. I did this plenty of times myself. I hurt people because I was too afraid that they wouldn't like me, so I rejected them first. This happens especially more often at the early stage of friendship. I always had a doubt about the people who came on stage and watched everything they did carefully. I was afraid people wouldn't like me and would end up hurting me, so I subconsciously put armor around me and ended up hurting others that way.

Now I understand that everything that happens is entirely our movie. Our attitude decides entirely what we are going to experience. When we show your love and acceptance, people will feel us and a positive cycle is about to start. Could it be that now and then you show your love and that others will not respond? Sure, you are dealing with your deepest fears here, so now and then a soul sibling will come your way to test your conviction. This is your movie, remember. A few, what you would call, villains have to come on stage to spice your life up a little. But that doesn't matter. Even if you open up and show your love and the other person rejects you, you lose absolutely nothing. The ability to love is a blessing itself.

I remember vividly when I first showed my love to people I didn't know so well and expected nothing in return; I devoted my time and attention to them and my heart was singing; I felt like I was dancing. Love literally gave me wings. How wonderful this feeling was. This is the first time I experienced the magic of giving yourself up to others. This service lights up your life.

You might say and what if the other doesn't love me in return, and what if I am being taken for a ride, and I would respond, why don't you give this life-style I am describing a shot. Extend yourself in little things. Start from the premise that you are really dealing with your soul siblings in disguise when you meet others. Every meeting becomes a holy encounter from your perspective. You might be scared and hesitant to love only because you are afraid deep down inside to be hurt. Why don't you table your expectation to get something in return from this encounter just for a moment and put your best foot forward. This world is one- every good deed if it is truly heartfelt will come back to you with interest, but in order for you to experiment with that concept you have to take the first step. Run this experiment of extending yourself and experience for yourself the magic of unconditional love.

Love is magic, it lights up people's face wherever it is.
It makes people's heart sing,
Love gives you strength to break through walls.
When you love, you become Her instrument.
It is the biggest treasure anyone could ever give to you.
You will turn into a beacon of light,
wherever you go, darkness is gone,
and laughter and smiles are sure to follow.

You can not live without giving and receiving love.
It is an obsession that feels serene,
a burning bush that never gets consumed by the fire.
