What do you do when you discover a drive in you? A lust, a desire to conquer the word, a need to own something, a drive to succeed? What will you do with this observation? Instead of judging it as good or bad, or trying to figure out what other people think about it, why don't you let it run its course and see where it leads you.
Especially in our spiritual community, too often do we judge our drives, try to guide it in a more appropriate direction, or perhaps worst, repress it. Whatever it is, just accept this drive to be part of you and see what it wants from you. You can always learn something from each and every aspect of yourself. Who knows, perhaps your drive vanishes into thin air as you engage, or perhaps you realize that your desire really masks an authentic need that you have negated for yourself all this time. By engaging you find wholeness, by avoiding it will only resurface again and again.
So if you have the urge to be professionally successful and to make lots of money, go for it. If you think you need to travel the world, express your sexuality, or pursue your spiritual aspirations, go right ahead. Always allow yourself to explore everything. By attempting to conquer the world you will really know yourself. Life plays with you and will confront you with the choices that always show you what works for you and what doesn't. You may get lost in this journey on occasions, but life always stands ready to make you snap out of it as you are just about to head down the wrong track. It is as much the successes as the failures that allow you to find yourself.
Just as you have to accept your desires accept your emotions too. The nagging depression even though you supposedly live your dream; the hesitation even though everything is going your way. It is only by embracing what bubbles beneath the surface that we get a true glimpse of ourselves. These drives and emotions are some forms of energy. They need to run their course. If you stop them in the middle, you feel something is unfinished. Why to stop them anyway? Life has its way to make us live trough what makes us complete. Let these drives, emotions and life episodes do their job.
We are all on a subconscious journey towards wholeness and healing. Take a step back and appreciate how far you already have come, just imagine what is in store for you if you make this journey a conscious one instead. The only thing missing perhaps is a complete honesty with yourself. Explore everything there is to know about you, and whatever you do, go all the way. Let life teach you who you are and how to find what is truly meaningful to you.
