Pressure Cooker

You've gotta get up and try, and try, and try.
(Pink, Try)

Observe your interactions with others. See the frustrations rising in you when things are not going your way. Perhaps you feel under time pressure, or someone is in a bad mood and pulls you right into his negative energy field. Walking a spiritual path is the awareness that your energy field is changing in response to your environment. Just acknowledge it without trying to do anything about it. Just as foul air entered the room, someone will come in open a window - that's life's yin and yang at work.

Before you had your natural outlets to deal with the accumulating pressures: the anger fits, the compensating shopping trips, the alcohol, the sex. The yin and yang process demands that the destructive energy goes somewhere. Yet, a spiritual traveler can put a stop on all of this. Destructive energy can be channeled into something beautiful. You will feel so much better afterwards and the negative energy is dealt with once and for all. It can be done, but it does require a lot of effort and patience to get to that stage.

A spiritual path is a process, you can't just one day decide that from now on everything will be different. Negative energy will still come your way, whether you are a spiritual traveler or not. If anything, use your increased awareness as an opportunity to let the pressure build a little inside. Experience the negative energy wave coming your way and just take it in. Observe then what natural responses inside scream for release. Let the pressure cooker simmer a little and then wait for the right opportunity to channel this energy into creative outlets. Messengers of positive energy will always show up after every negative development. That's the law of yin and yang.

You can work on many areas to become an effective energy master. Find ways to improve your interactions with others in order to minimize negative energy exchanges. Try to become effective, assertive and considerate in all your relationships. Never sell yourself short while at the same time looking out for others. Understand what gives you positive energy and find a healthy work - life balance. Just remember it is a process. You will make mistakes; your old-established routines will kick in, but that's ok! The Germans have a saying that masters don't fall from the sky. It is a process, but until the day when you are a trained spiritual martial artists, you've gotta get up and try, and try, and try!
