The Renaissance of a Metaphysical World

The first gulp from the glass of natural science will turn you into an atheist, but at the bottom of the glass GOD is waiting for you. (Werner Heisenberg)

I remember the story of Martin Luther - the monk who started the Protestant movement - when he saw the devil appearing in the fireplace as he was translating the Bible into German. He took his inkwell and threw it at him. To this day, I am told, we can see the dark spot on the wall at the Wartburg Castle where Martin Luther was living at the time.

This occurrence - or Martin Luther's faux pas, as the modern mind would probable conclude - describes the human consciousness of the Medieval times quite well. It was a much more magical world than the one we experience today. In the olden days we saw angels and demons, fairies and ghosts. Nearly everyone was religious during those days, and the world they experienced was either against the SPIRIT or in DEO, with GOD.

We have grown since. We don't believe much in the devil any more, but we equally believe in probabilities, randomness and luck. For us spiritual travelers though, the world of synchronicity, purpose and meaning brings us back to the metaphysics of the olden days. We might start our journey with this spiritual mindset but somewhere along the WAY we have no choice but to become religious. Every step is either towards GOD or away from HER. We either see HER divine FACE here and now or we don't. Don't you think, if Werner Heisenberg saw HER, we can see HER too.
