It’s the Intention that counts

The message your brother gives you is up to you. What does he say to you? What would you have him say? Your decision about him determines the message you receive.

When you meet someone, do you meet him in the name of Christ, or is it pure self-interest that drives the interaction? Are you perhaps confused about your true motive? In the case of an attractive date, is it love or lust that prevails, or perhaps both? Or, when you meet a business partner, is it the lure of the deal or the interest in the connection that matters most? Don’t lose much sleep over the answer if you feel confused. The Course in Miracles also states,

‘The Holy Spirit, ever practical in His wisdom, accepts your dreams and uses them as means for waking.’

So unless your intentions are purely ego-based, your interaction in good faith with your partner will always allow you to take a step towards your dreams while also being encouraged to sign up for the hard work towards making this relationship spiritually wholesome. It is the intention that counts. After all is said and done, the Holy Spirit will make sure they are good.
