Dance with Mystery

A while back I read an article about a Tibetan woman who turned her life upside down; she changed from being a very successful anchorwoman to giving up everything, including her marriage, her job and all her belongings. She moved from China to the US, just to follow her own inner guidance.

When I read this article, I couldn’t understand. The whole story seemed unbelievable. It all started when her daughter was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Her life suddenly changed from glamour to bitterness. After several years of battling with cancer, her daughter passed away.  She couldn’t stop crying for a long time. One day, her daughter showed up in her dream and told her to stop crying.  She explained to her that her role was to jumpstart her spiritual development. That dream woke the woman up!

She reconnected with her Tibetan origin and started her spiritual practices. During one of her sessions, she got the guidance to divorce her husband, leave her job, and move to the US.  Surprisingly, she followed this guidance without doubt and hesitation. When I read this story, she had already settled in US and had set up an organization. Her life changed totally from being a glamorous anchorwoman to becoming a rebellious spiritual follower.

Later she also gave up religion as she figured that these practices can only get us that far. After some point, we have to bravely walk alone, walk into darkness, and dance with the mystery! Wow!  That was quite an eye opener reading that story at that time. These days, however, I understand why she broke free. All the scriptures and all the teachers can only guide us so far. After some point we have to bravely walk alone into the unknown; into the darkness.

In order to dance with the darkness you have to figure out your own rhythm. In order to drink from the fountain of the mystery, you have to go there!  You have to leave this world behind and dance with the wind! Am I ready?  Do I really need to do this?  I am not sure but I may try!
