Where wisdom reigns, there is no conflict between thinking and feeling.
(Carl Jung)
A friend shared this photo of a labyrinth and I suddenly realized that it is a perfect metaphor for the spiritual path many of us are on. You see, before Awakening kicks in, people run after their dreams and aspirations, just as they may run away from their fears. They feel like they are dealing with a hostile and unpredictable environment, never knowing what dead end lurks around the corner. That’s what a typical labyrinth feels like. Along an Awakening journey, however, all that worrying, anticipating and fearing comes to an end. We still have a little homework to do, mind you, but the angst is taken out. Like in the labyrinth in the attached photo, we calmly scan our environment and then proceed to our destination.
Carl Jung sums up this state perfectly. Serenity reigns because we have managed to align our feelings with our thoughts. There is harmony between what we think, do and say. Who cares if there is still a little homework ahead in our Homecoming journey. We are Home already.
