Awakening: the beginning of the end

Newcomers to spirituality often asks, ‘how does one define Awakening?’ My response tends to be that a new program kicks in from one day to the next. We used to be on a hunt for people and things that were meaningful to us, and now there is a Voice available that sends us in a different direction. We follow synchronicity, and experience the energy of people and places differently. We feel the love. In a way we still hunt for people and things that are meaningful to us but we follow a different GPS system. After a while it dawns on us, this trip is designed to dissolve the self entirely. Maybe the old life we were living was too, but these processes were only subconscious is nature.

Awakening is a little like having a favorite woolen blanked with the threads coming off one by one. We can already look through it, but we still like its smell and comfy memory of the blanket, so we hang on to it. Yet, it is just a question of time before it dissolves and we have to dispose of it. We are converging towards Consciousness, everyone is, spiritual or not. After Awakening our mental gaps become longer and longer. Life unfolds without us adding a mental commentary. Life becomes an ongoing meditation. We still carry the self like an avatar, but life flows through us. Like a prism we still exists, but we merely reflect the Light without self involvement.
